We met on 14 April 2024 at the Burleigh Heads speed dating at ELE bar, and have been together ever since. We live together with our cat, Koda, and life’s been pretty great.

One of our favourite memories so far was a weekend away in Evans Head where Harley met my parents and sister who came over from New Zealand (he survived and they loved him). It was a really special trip for us.

We’re looking forward to Harley’s best friend’s wedding in a few months and are planning a big trip around NZ next year.

Kevin and I met at one of your events in 2024—it was the Brisbane speed dating night on August 30th.

Our favourite memory together so far is a weekend getaway we had at the start of March. One exciting plan we’ve got for the future is a trip to Tasmania in mid-May!

Met at one of our first ever Sydney events in 2021 and recently got engaged, bought a house and adopted a cat together!

Patrick and I met at an event in Perth May 2023. 

We love hiking dates and recently flew back to Europe to meet each other’s families for the first time.

We met at your Canberra speed dating event on 7th August. Even before the event started we had an interaction at the bar while getting our drinks and I already noticed his good sense of style and smile.

Later on I would find out that he had noticed my outfit and told his friend that he was most excited to meet me. 

We had our 5 minute date and we just clicked. So once the speed dating was over I decided to move to his table to talk to him more. We got along well and chatted for 30 minutes before I was nearly falling asleep as it was way past my bed time. 

He walked out that night with his friend and said he was only interested in one person (me). And I was on the phone to my sister telling her about this man who was dressed so nicely and how we instantly clicked. 

So we matched and he messaged me first. We had two dates within a week as he was travelling back home for four weeks. We both were very attracted and drawn to each other. Over the four weeks while he was gone, we implemented weekly phone calls, some that lasted three hours. And would send messages as well. 

We’re enjoying getting to know each other and seeing where things will end up. 

That’s right—I met my partner, Ben, through Cheeky Events! In 2022, when I was running events part-time, Ben added our first Cheeky Events Instagram account, and offered to help out by hosting. I always joke he got away with never buying a ticket because he volunteered, and we ended up dating. Three months later, we were living together with our cheeky cavoodle, Teddy, and to our surprise, expecting a baby! We didn’t expect to get pregnant because I was previously told I had fertility issues with an ex-partner years before. But we both believe it’s never too soon with the right person.

We conceived our daughter, Everleigh, on a weekend getaway to Melbourne and named her after a bar we visited in Fitzroy. While on maternity leave from my teaching job, Ben encouraged me to turn this side hustle into a full-time career so I could spend more time with our daughter (and him and our cheeky cavoodle). He even drove me across Sydney to expand events beyond the eastern suburbs and joined me to launch Cheeky Events in Melbourne, Perth, and London—with our baby in tow.

We recently bought our dream house together on the Gold Coast and finally have space for family from the UK to come and visit.

A lot of people think we moved quickly, but we both knew we wanted the same thing and had very similar goals (to settle down, to work for ourselves, to experience living in another part of Australia, to travel lots).

We were both in our mid-30s and didn’t want to mess around and play games. This only happened for me because I decided to stop settling for situationships and have the confidence to say what I was looking for from the beginning. On the first proper date, I was worried that Ben was quieter than my usual type, but my usual extroverted type had never worked out, and I’m so glad I told myself to give “a good guy” a chance because he is honestly the calm to my crazy busy life that I needed. Likewise, he says I bring the fun energy he needed in his. It’s funny how, personality-wise, we would agree that opposites do attract, but then again, our values and goals are very similar.

Now, we’re looking into becoming foster parents and can’t wait to grow old together, continuing to support each other’s businesses (Ben owns a finance broker company for small businesses wanting asset finance to buy trucks, etc., to grow their business) & to continue developing as people.

I met Timmy at the 2022 Valentines Day speed dating event in Bondi Junction and recognised him from seeing him out and about around Sydney. I had previously been a speed dating guest at two events and both times I received quite a few matches & even had some cool dates (one guy even taught me how to rock climb and another how to surf) but this felt different as I could imagine a long-term relationship with Timmy straight away. I think it helped that you (as in me Cheri) really helped us to mingle as both myself and Timmy are quite shy. People say we moved in with each other quite soon (3 months) but we still have never had an argument. We are both such such chilled people and want the same things. We are both away from family in the UK and Ireland so we have that in common too and feel like we are each other’s family & support network here in Sydney.

I met Lewis at one of your secret singles house parties in Roseberry two years ago and during the ice breaker games I got paired with Lewis’ friend & soon realised there was a cool flirty vibe between myself and Lewis. His friend was cool about it and egged us on to have a cheeky snog. I loved that all the females were invited to arrive earlier and bond before the guys arrived. In terms of knowing he was the one, we saw each other two or three times that next week and within 6 months we had been on so many fun holidays and then decided to move in with each other. We are both really into Crossfit so we enjoy working out together and pushing each other. We just knew.

I met Jethro at the Coogee speed dating event almost 2 years ago. It was one of the first ever events! We were making each other laugh for most of the 6 minute date and gravitated towards each other again during the half way dancing & drinking break. This was my second event and whilst everyone was lovely at the first one and I made some good friendships this was different to that. He makes so much effort with my friends, which I love. We’ve been dating for two years and official for one. We haven’t moved in yet as we both love living with our friends and don’t let people pressure us into rushing it. We have just been on holiday to Fiji, Bali and Tasmania and now can’t wait to plan the next one together.
